Best Hurghada hotel zones for an easy Orange Bay pickup

All Orange Bay trips depart from Hurghada Marina. The pickup is the drive from your hotel to the marina. Pickup typically happens 60 to 90 minutes before the boat departs (10 to 15 minutes earlier for distant hotels, to be safe).

For the shared boat trip with an 8 AM marina departure, that maps to:

**Sakkala / Marina zone**: pickup 7:30 to 7:45 AM

**Central / Hadaba**: pickup 7:15 to 7:30 AM

**New Hurghada / Sahl Hasheesh north**: pickup 7:00 to 7:15 AM

**Sahl Hasheesh south**: pickup 6:45 to 7:00 AM

**Makadi Bay / Soma Bay**: pickup 6:15 to 6:30 AM

**El Gouna**: pickup 6:00 to 6:15 AM

Pickup from El Gouna, Makadi Bay, or Sahl Hasheesh costs 10 EUR per person on a shared transfer, 30 EUR for a private luxury car (up to 4 guests), or 60 EUR for a private minibus (5+ guests). Pickup from Hurghada itself stays included at no extra cost.

The historic central area of Hurghada. Walking distance to the Marina Boulevard, restaurants, souk, and a lively nightlife scene. Pickup is 5 to 10 minutes by car for Orange Bay trips.

Best for: travelers who want a lively city / Egyptian vibe alongside the beach. Less polished than the resort zones, more authentic.

Hotel examples: city hotels around the marina, a few 4-star beachfront properties between the marina and the Public Beach.

Big stretch of beachfront resorts immediately south of the central area. The promenade walk is the social spot at sunset. Pickup is 10 to 15 minutes to the marina.

Best for: travelers who want a polished resort with quick access to the marina, restaurants, and souk.

Hotel examples: most of the big 4 and 5-star international chains in Hurghada.

The newer 5-star resort zone further south. Sahl Hasheesh is a planned gated beach community with several large resort properties around a horseshoe bay. Pickup is 20 to 35 minutes to the marina.

Best for: travelers who want maximum luxury / privacy and do not mind a 30-minute drive to off-site dining and tours.

Hotel examples: Premier Le Reve, Baron Palace Sahl Hasheesh, Pyramisa, Sunrise Crystal Bay, Old Palace Resort.

Further south, 35 to 50 minutes from the Orange Bay marina. Larger isolated resorts on dedicated bays. Beaches are excellent but you commit to eating + activities on-site (no easy off-resort dining).

Best for: long stays where you genuinely use the resort. Orange Bay pickup is at 6:30 AM and back to your hotel by 5 PM, which is doable but a long day.

Many Makadi Bay hotels run their own marina excursions to closer reef spots. For Orange Bay specifically we still pick you up from the hotel.

A separate planned resort town 20 km north of Hurghada, basically its own small city with lagoons and a yacht-club feel. Pickup is 40 to 50 minutes to the Hurghada marina.

Best for: travelers who want a premium "Mediterranean-feeling" town vibe with restaurants and bars instead of the all-inclusive buffet life. Self-catering / kite-surfing / town walking holiday.

For Orange Bay from El Gouna, the pickup is at 6 AM, which is early but fine. Many El Gouna travelers also do El Gouna marina trips locally, which is a different (and closer) experience to a slightly different reef set.

**You care about easy mornings + close to nightlife**: Sakkala / Marina / Hadaba.

**You want the most polished resort**: New Hurghada or Sahl Hasheesh.

**You commit to staying on-resort the whole time**: Makadi Bay / Soma Bay.

**You want a town vibe with self-catered options**: El Gouna.

From any zone the Orange Bay tour works fine, the only variable is the pickup time. Earlier pickup = bigger day. Closer hotel = more relaxed morning.
